Meet Our Team

Tara Klimovitz, DVM, CCRT

taraDr. Klimovitz assumes the ownership responsibilities and full-time veterinarian position at Perry Hall Animal Hospital. Dr. K was born and raised in Baltimore and received her BS in Animal Sciences from the University of Maryland. She attended Ross University, in St. Kitts where she earned her DVM in 2006. She brings with her a compassion and enthusiasm for veterinary medicine as well as innovative care and services such as stem cell and laser therapy. Dr. Klimovitz earned her certificate in Canine Rehabilitation Therapy and provides rehab therapy for many conditions such as post-operative, neurological, and orthopedic conditions.

Her two dogs, Bernie, a Shih-tzu mix rescue and Jackson (Mr. Wrinkles), an American Bulldog keep Dr. K busy outside of the hospital. Her cat, Mini-Cat, now has 3 brothers, Apple Pie and Chase, and newest family member, Popeye, to help keep her company at home during the day.


ashleighAshleigh Baer, DVM

Dr. Ashleigh Baer is very excited to be working with the residents and animals of Perry Hall and is thrilled to be working north of the city once again, as she grew up in Fallston and currently resides in Bel Air. She obtained her DVM from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011 after obtaining her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Maryland in 2007.

Dr. Baer’s main interests include surgery, wound management and internal medicine. She believes that strong client relationships and client education are the foundations to happy and healthy pets. Dr. Baer spends her free time with her three dogs — Koda, Copper and Edgar Brooks. (Keeshond, hound mix and lab respectively). She enjoys traveling, cooking, sailing and is an avid Baltimore Ravens, Orioles and Maryland Terrapins fan.


amyStacey Hicks, DVM

Dr. Stacey Hicks is originally from Huntington, West Virginia and has been working as a veterinarian and living in the Baltimore area for the past several years. Dr. Hicks graduated from Marshall University with a bachelors degree in Biomedical Sciences and a minor in Chemistry and then went on to obtain her DVM from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Hicks has a strong interest in ophthalmology, as well as advanced training in dentistry, so the pets of Perry Hall will be seeing better and giving cleaner kisses with her help! Her focus is on client education and building a lasting rapport with her clients and patients to ensure a comfortable and informative visit.

She brings a great love for pets (and horses) from her upbringing, and her boxer/boston terrier/pittbull mix, Miles helps to keep her skills sharp while she’s at home! Hiking and being outdoors with Miles, making stained glass and exploring the city are where Dr. Hicks enjoys spending her time outside of work.

 

Amy Hubbard, DVM

Dr. Amy Hubbard is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Madison Veterinary School and has been treating pets in the Baltimore area for 26 years.  Dr. Hubbard has a very strong interest in veterinary dentistry, has completed advanced training and brings a wealth of knowledge in the veterinary dental field. Some of her other interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery and pocket pets.  Dr. Hubbard will be seeing our canine, feline AND pocket pet patients! Dr. Hubbard has been a dedicated and long-standing volunteer and former Board Member at the Humane Society of Harford County. During her free time, she volunteers at the shelter and with other rescue groups. All of her pets are rescues and include 2 dogs, 3 cats and a lizard to round out her 4-legged family.   She loves hiking with her dogs, Rex and Taylor and spending time with her family at the beach.

 

amyAmy Brazil, VMD

Dr. Amy Brazil was born in Baltimore and has called Perry Hall home since the 8th grade and works for PHAH on limited basis one Saturday a month. She graduated from the University of Virginia with a BS in Cognitive Science and a minor in Spanish, and then went on to earn her Veterinary Medical Doctorate degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2007.

After practicing veterinary medicine for 6 years, Dr. Brazil earned her masters degree from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and is combining her expertise in both fields by working in the government sector for the FDA as her full-time career.


Elizabeth Arthur, DVM DACVS-SA

Dr. Elizabeth Arthur, is a board certified surgeon with Mobile Veterinary Surgery. She performs advanced surgical procedures for PHAH patients on an as needed schedule. Perry Hall Animal Hospital offers Dr. Arthur's services to our clients and patients in-house. This enables our patients and clients the familiarity and consistency of the same facility, staff and doctors overseeing the care of their pet both pre and post surgery as an alternative to a specialty surgical center.

Dr. Arthur graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003 and pursued extensive surgical training during the subsequent five years. She accomplished one-year internships in both general medicine & surgery and small animal surgery at two distinguished hospitals, The Animal Medical Center and Gulf Coast Veterinary Surgery, before moving to Maryland in 2005. Following completion of her three year residency in small animal surgery with Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists, Dr. Arthur spent two years in Gaithersburg as a member of the surgical team at Veterinary Referral Associates.

Her areas of interest include general orthopedics and soft tissue surgery, with specific focus on oncologic surgery as well as treatment of cruciate ligament injuries and other disorders of the knee. Dr. Arthur’s meticulous surgical skill is complemented by a longstanding emphasis on pain management, and she has been a member of the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management since 2005.

 

MicheleMichele Deschu, Practice Manager

Michele shares the ownership responsibilities with Dr. Klimovitz and handles all of the daily business aspects of keeping Perry Hall Animal Hospital running smoothly and efficiently. A background in teaching has taught her how to maintain order and focus so that we can continually meet the needs of our patients and clients, as well as educate them about the veterinary care of their pets. From human resources to marketing and finances, to building maintenance, Michele is responsible for the complex inner workings of the practice.

Michele graduated with her bachelor's degree in physical education in 2001, and a Master’s Degree in Health Physiology in 2003 from Salisbury University. She was also a 4 year member of the women's basketball team and now brings a team-oriented approach to all facets of the hospital.


kristaKrista Heaney, Client Care Representative

Krista has 6 years of veterinary experience both in regular and emergency veterinary medicine. She contributes a great deal of knowledge and understanding of the veterinary world as well as a great compassion for pets and their people. She is currently studying Environmental Science at Towson University and has future aspirations to study habitats and their species as an Environmental Biologist. Krista also has a crew at home that includes her 3 dogs (Sophie, Maya and Hunter), 3 cats (Smokey, Sasha, and Dexter), some tortoises and bearded dragons, an iguana, crested gecko, ball python, Harvey the Hedgehog and a partridge in a pear tree.

Brooke Fromm, Client Care Representative

Brooke brings over 9 years of veterinary experience to our team at PHAH, with a variety of positions including technician services, client care services and specialty dermatology services that have given her a thorough understanding of veterinary medicine. She has educational experience in the medical field and has potential plans of pursuing a veterinary technician degree in the future. Brooke is always eager to attend to all of our patients’ and clients’ needs and is a great asset to our Client Services Team. Her furry family includes Hayden, a Terrier Mix and her two cats, Winston and Wyatt. From time to time her “kids” have some foster brothers and sisters that stay with them as well!

Ariana Tucciarello-Booth, Client Care Representative

Ariana has been an advocate for clients and their pets while working in the veterinary field for over 11 years! Her experience at a busy and progressive small animal hospital has allowed her to fit right in here at PHAH. Her passion and knowledge in the field is evident, and she will be a great support for our clients, patients and our team. Ariana’s kids include her dogs Masn (Doberman mix) and Talia (2 ½ year old rescue) as well as 4 cats, Tucci, Fudge, Sheldon and Nola.

 

Maria Bruno, Client Care Representative

Maria recently joined our team after making the move down to Maryland, from New York. She graduated from Utica College with a degree in Health Studies and a minor in Communications. Her experience in the veterinary field includes working as a technician in a very busy kennel and being responsible for many types of animals. Maria would like to pursue a degree in Veterinary Technology and become a Registered Veterinary Technician in the future. She loves to love the pets that greet her here at PHAH everyday but looks forward to giving some love to her beagle, Vera Lynn when at home. Her interests outside of work include fitness, make-up and spending time with family back in New York.

 

Kasey West, Client Care Representative

Kasey has worked in the veterinary field for over 8 years, as both a veterinary assistant and a receptionist. As a “self-proclaimed, crazy-cat lady”, Kasey loves all creatures big and small but she loves the felines most of all.” Kasey has acquired only three at this point – Meeko, a long-haired calico, Sheldon, an orange tabby, and Paxton, her baby gray tabby – all lucky enough to be rescues of course! She also has a very big heart for senior pets and always looks forward to meeting all of our seniors! She takes her job very seriously and always wants to ensure that all of our pets (even the dogs) and clients at PHAH have an amazing experience when they are here. Outside of work, Kasey enjoys reading and spending time with her family.

 

Amanda Serafini, RVT, Technician Supervisor

Amanda finally decided to make the switch back to general practice after working in shelter medicine for the last 7 years. Her experience as the Veterinary, Training and Behavior Director at the Baltimore Humane Society has enabled Amanda to utilize her management and organizational skills here at PHAH, while also contributing on the veterinary side. Amanda has worked in several technical positions in general practice medicine and earned her AA degree in Veterinary Technology and certification in 2011. One of Amanda’s passions is dog behavior and training. She has conducted training classes for PHAH in the past and is currently pursing a certification in “Fear Free Handling”. A future goal is to obtain the Behavior Specialty Certification for RVTs. Her pets at home include Dobby, a poodle, and her main man, Crookshanks, a 10-year old Persian. (pictured!).

 

SNPStephanie Pearce, RVT

Stephanie is a Parkville HS alumni who received her A.S. degree in Veterinary Technology from CCBC. She became a registered technician in 2012 and has been working in both emergency and private practice veterinary hospitals for over 7 years. Her professional interests include volunteering with World Vets where she has traveled to Ecuador and the Cheetah conservation in Nambia, Africa. Stephanie heads up our surgery department and ensures that all of our surgical patients are carefully attended to, before, during and after surgery. She excels in anesthesia protocols and monitoring, pain management and the continued education of our technical staff. She is a mom to Lilly (pictured), a lab/great pyrenees mix, Buck, a black lab, and her newest rescue, Rick, a 9 year old golden and her 2 cats, William and Billy.

 

katieKatie Sullivan, RVT

Katie is a great asset to PHAH and has been working in the veterinary field for over 10 years! Her compassionate and calming personality help to make all of our patients feel at ease, which is really important when those sharp needles are needed! Katie has recently returned to school to pursue her goal of becoming a registered technician and to earn her Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology at CCBC.

Katie has a small zoo at home including her dogs, Brydie and Mona, her cats Kenny and Stitch, and some chickens to round out the family!

 

MichelleTompkinsMichelle Tompkins, RVT

Michelle's specialties and interests include small animal dentistry and canine behavior training. She joins the PHAH team after spending over 5 years as a technician in general practice and one year as a lead dental technician in a specialty practice. She has training in force-free, positive method dog psychology and behavior training and would like to become a certified dog trainer. Michelle is working on obtaining her degree in veterinary technology to reach her goal of becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician. She enjoys building relationships with the clients and pets, as well as promoting good health habits through client education.

Michelle's home crew includes Murphy, a nervous little cuddle bug of a boxer, and Calvin her adorable, lovable orange tabby who became her foster FAIL! He is one lucky little kitty and will be forever grateful that she gave him a chance!

 

MeganDuckMeagan Duck, RVT

Meagan received her BS in Animal Science from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2008. She followed her true calling of working in the veterinary field and has recently graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at CCBC, earning her A.S degree in Veterinary Technology. She achieved her goal of becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician in June and we are so excited to have her on board through her all of her advancements! Meagan has over three years of experience as veterinary assistant and her future goals in the vet field include advance schooling for her doctorate degree or specialty certifications.

Daisy is her "baby" a lab/pit mix who shares the house with Zeppelin and Terp, the kitties, as well as her goldfish of 1 year :)

Abby Hurdle, Veterinary Technician

Abby is a client turned employee who just LOVES to be here with all of our patients! She graduated from Perry Hall HS and is currently pursuing her degree in Veterinary Technology at CCBC, to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. Abby has a true passion for the field and wants only the best for any creature that passes through our doors. Although this is her first endeavor in the animal field, her future aspirations include continuing her education to become a Veterinarian. She shares her house with Daisy, her 3-legged rescue, Rhiley, her black lab, Ruben, an English Springer Spaniel, and Schnapper, her gray tabby.

 

Monique Brown, Veterinary Technician

Monique brings with her, a varied veterinary background that helps in so many aspects of our hospital. She has worked in the veterinary industry for over 4 years and has experience in general small animal practice, emergency medicine and neurology. Monique earned her Associates degree in Specialized Technology, from the Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh, and plans to become registered in the near future. Monique brings a positive attitude and outlook to all situations and always has her patients’ best interests in mind. This “Jersey Girl” has a 2 year-old pitbull named Jade who is… well, just adorable!


Lindsay Delaney, Veterinary Technician

Lindsay’s passion for veterinary medicine is not only evident by her 20 years in this profession, but by the care and concern given to her patients and willingness to continually learn and grow in this field. Lindsay holds an AA degree and has plans to go back to school to become a registered technician in the future. Her veterinary interests include dentistry, pocket pets and surgery. PHAH’s patients, clients and staff all benefit from Lindsay’s vast experience and desire to help in all situations. Four children, athletics coaching and her pug, Marney all keep her busy outside of work. Her little angel Toby (pictured) that she had for 17 amazing years, keeps a watchful eye over her now.

Kayla Murphy, Veterinary Assistant

Kayla is a Perry Hall native, who graduated from Perry Hall High School and is excited to finally be working in the field she loves, in order to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. Kayla adores all animals and isn’t afraid to get down and dirty which comes from her years of working on a farm. She has a calming presence around our patients and is quickly becoming an integral part of our team at PHAH. She has two dogs: Jetta, a 1 year old pit mix and Buck, an 8 year old Beagle.

Anthony Feret, Veterinary Assistant

Anthony is currently fulfilling his goal of becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician and is attending CCBC for his required coursework. Anthony joins our team after completing 6 years of active duty in the United States Air Force. We are very fortunate to have Anthony’s quick thinking and composure at PHAH as well as his increasing veterinary and handling skills. He has a crew at home, which includes Heidi, a 5 year old German Shepherd/Rotti mix, Conan a 3 year old Lab/Collie mix and his newest chimney rescue, Xena (a cat of course!).

 

Justine Kahl, Veterinary Assistant

Justine is stepping into the veterinary world and is a graduate from Perry Hall High School. Her professionalism, responsibility and teamwork have already proven to be an asset to our team, our patients and our clients. Justine’s long-term goals include going to school to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. Morgan (a 4 year old shepherd mix) and her Papillion, Shilioh, are excited to have a technician in the family now!

 

mugsyMugsy Badcat

Mugsy is the longest standing full-time staff member at Perry Hall Animal Hospital. His responsibilities include supervising building security, shedding and laying on keyboards. He is on the board of directors and makes important management and staffing decisions for the hospital. He enjoys eating, playing catch, thumb wrestling and massages. You'll often see him "freshly shaved", which has now become a highly sought after style in the feline community. We now offer "The Mugsy Cut" for your feline - just ask for it. (along with being fashionable, it also helps with hairballs and skin issues).
